Both of my sisters are in the insurance industry and enjoy the work. The pay is good, the hours are good and the interaction with people is enjoyable. And the initial outlay in time and money to take the course is reasonable.

Receiving a scholarship helped me both financially and as a motivational tool. The regular correspondence with you helped me to keep going so I could give you positive reports on my progress. Also, the encouragement was great … everyone needs a pat on the back.

Before I took the Insurance course I was working as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I enjoyed the work but being at a pool all day, every day was not my idea of a career. Continuing my education seemed like a good idea but I didn’t know what direction to go in. Then I came along the scholarship application for this Insurance course and thought I would give it a try.

The most valuable aspect of receiving the scholarship was the encouragement, the regular ‘check-ups’ and the help I received in setting up the exam. When you reach the end of the course, finding a proctor and setting up the exam can be a daunting prospect, but all this was made easier. Also, the initial instruction on how to get started was invaluable.

The biggest challenge was the exam. Your really have to study. You need to know your information inside and out.

I don’t know if I can offer any real concrete advice except to study. Know your material. Put the time in and understand what you are reading.

I would like to thank the people at Barton Insurance, particularly Mike Wabanga for proctoring my exam and then hiring me. He was encouraging and kind and made me feel very comfortable. The training I have received this far has been serious and intense but I am learning a lot, I feel appreciated and welcome.

I am feeling settled and happy in my new career right now, and that is all thanks to the Canadian Insurance Scholarship Program. So, once again, thank you. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a career in the Insurance Industry.
